Use iPhone and NFC Tags to Automatically Play Music

Do you know by combining your iPhone’s Shortcuts app with NFC tags, you can set up your device to automatically play a specific Apple Music song when you scan the tag. Here’s how to set it up:

Required Apps:

  • Music APP: For playing music.(any music apps work)
  • Shortcuts: For creating automation tasks.
  • NFC Tools: If you want the NFC keychains play with any phone, this tool is necessary.

Steps:

  1. Prepare the NFC Tag:

    • Download and install NFC Tools.
    • Open the app and select “Write.”
    • Choose “Add a record” > “URL,” then paste the link to the Apple Music song you want to play.
    • Tap “Write” and hold your iPhone near the NFC tag to write the URL.
  2. Create a Shortcut Automation:

    • Open the Shortcuts app and go to the “Automation” tab.
    • Tap the “+” icon and select “Create Personal Automation.”
    • Choose “NFC” and scan the NFC tag you prepared.
    • Tap “Next,” then “Add Action” > “Play Music.”
    • In the “Play Music” action, select the song you want to play.
    • Tap “Next,” disable “Ask Before Running,” and tap “Done.”

Now, when you scan the NFC tag with your iPhone, the specified Apple Music song will play automatically.

Note:

  • Ensure your iPhone supports NFC.
  • NFC tags can be purchased online or at electronics stores.
  • If you want to change the song, delete the existing automation and create a new one following the same steps.
